But unlike Henner, Levick makes images that are fictionalized, collaged together from disparate sites. SlideshowDaniel Leivick, Abandoned Earthworksĭaniel Leivick is a Los Angeles-based photographer who, like Henner, uses satellite photos to create highly detailed, large-scale images. SlideshowDaniel Leivick, Oil Field and Irrigation SlideshowDaniel Leivick, Slum and Panopticon Prison SlideshowDaniel Leivick, Circles Composite These patterns are visually stunning at the same time they remind us that the apparently open visual access to the world afforded by satellite image systems is limited by vested government and corporate powers. But these patterns are not painterly abstractions inserted by the artist they are software-generated obfuscations meant to conceal military installations and other sites deemed sensitive by the Dutch government. The images in this series seem to be composed of mosaics of brightly colored polygons nestled into views of countryside landscapes. It is important to understand that each image is incredibly detailed, stitched together from hundreds of individual photos: these abstractions are composed of facts-on-the-ground, facts whose scale -and impact - is geological.įor “Dutch Landscapes,” Henner takes a subtly different approach. Here the satellite view serves to flatten space, and the results are arresting aerial typologies the various sites read like the evolving variations of an abstract painter’s work. For his series “The Fields,” Henner focuses on oil fields in the western United States, especially Texas - sites of large and critical energy infrastructure located in relatively remote places, hidden in plain sight, you might say. Mishka Henner, whose work I recently explored in this journal, deploys networked satellite systems to create images that at once document land uses and explore how the imaging systems are altering these uses. Yet certain types of images have yet to earn our distrust. It’s natural to question the veracity of photographs. Yet this neutrality is illusory: satellite imagery is constructed by systems which do not simply present but also interpret and transform the raw visual data, affecting how and what we see. Easy access to satellite imagery has indeed provided us an apparently infinite source of information about the surface of our planet. Once limited largely to weather forecasts and military operations, satellite-based photography has in recent years become an integral part of our daily lives through Google Earth and other networked mapping services. Offering what can appear an almost definitive god’s-eye view, and avoiding the subjective biases of human picture makers, machine-made satellite images might seem the ultimate example of neutral, just-the-facts visual documentation. I am thinking especially of satellite photos. Yet certain types of photography have yet to earn our distrust. In our image-saturated culture, it’s natural to feel skeptical about the veracity of photographs - we understand that an image shows nothing more than a decontextualized slice of space, a particular spot at a moment in time. It’s also incredibly handy that the software gives you the option only to affect the subject and not the background. The image really jumps out and is sharp enough to publish. I am using the sharpness here on full blast to see the effect of ringing (artifacts) and to be totally honest…. It’s a screenshot straight out of Topaz Photo AI I took this shot during a visit to the Orchideeënhoeve (the largest tropical attraction in Europe). Let’s start very simply with something that happens to all of us. All the images that would normally be unsuitable for release are now…. but sometimes you just don’t have that option. I can talk for hours about the importance of proper focus, controlling noise on location, etc. But when I started testing Topaz Photo AI my jaw literally dropped to the floor, and for the first time, I was literally wondering how the heck did they do this…. It’s hard to really describe, but a lot of plugins work great on razor-sharp images, or images where there is a little bit of noise. They always deliver awesome plug-ins or standalone solutions that really add something to my workflow. Well, I would have said, “absolutely” a few weeks ago, but not anymore. Now I can’t even remember how many images I threw out that were just not “usable” at that time… But what if I told you that those cherished memories from our loved ones can be saved? That those concert images can be stunning and noiseless? And that time you missed focus is not a real problem anymore… would you label me crazy? or tell me “yeah, well we can sharpen it a bit, and use some filters, but it’s not sharp so it can never be as good as shot right at the moment we took it” So sometimes images are a little bit soft or have some tremendous noise because there wasn’t enough light to capture a razor-sharp clean image. Photography for me is freezing unique moments in time that will never come back again.īut Photography sometimes also means we have to capture those moments in situations that are far from perfect. Today I can tell you I had the same sort of experience, and probably even more important. Yes, the first time I saw Content Aware Fill I had that kind of moment, and that was way way before it was officially released and became much better. But nothing where I really had to pick my jaw up from the ground. And in all honestly most of the time it does do it work pretty well. Well, a lot of software nowadays uses the term AI. We have to find ways to incorporate AI into our workflows without losing the “soul” we all put into our work. I truly believe we are on the verge of some major breakthroughs. But do we really want to see the same kind of reviews without any personal input from a real human being? I don’t think so, but again it can help a lot with research and I’m excited to see how AI can be used for medical and scientific applications. The chatbots are also getting incredibly good and will probably be a real problem for education, but can help with writing articles and/or doing research. In a group of its own yes! But Instagram is almost overflown with awesome-looking fashion shots where I literally thought “What a great photographer” until I scroll down more and see that the rest of his/her work is often below average/ It’s something I struggle to recognize as art, but maybe that’s just me. Of course, it looks insanely good, but it’s not “real” like where you create a set, light the set, coach the model, and take the image. But I also have to add I don’t see this as “art”. Like probably most of you I am totally stunned by the quality of photorealistic images you can get from several AI image generators. Personally, I’m all for innovation but also have problems with some applications. Where a few years ago the term AI (Artificial Intelligence) was just something that you talked about in connection to some robot vacuums that were actually pretty dumb today the story is completely different and in all fairness, it’s an exciting but also frightening time. It seems the world is going really fast nowadays. In this situation, the only choice you’re left with is to get a new computer system with better specifications. However, if you’ve already set your in-game settings to low then none of the above-mentioned tools will be able to help you out. You can use both of these tools to get the maximum performance from your PC system. One focuses on eliminating unnecessary background processes while the other reduces in-game graphic settings to make it easier for your computer system to give more FPS. Both can improve your in-game performance. Overall, Razer Cortex and GeForce experience are two different optimization tools. Dxtory, FPS Monitor, Razer Cortex & NVIDIA GeForce Experience. So, if you want to keep your game on high settings then GeForce might not be the best choice for you. To confirm this, you can try to limit the FPS (via NVIDIA Inspector or game settings). However, if your computer system is not strong then GeForce will set all of your game settings to low, which can cause your game to look quite ugly. This tool automatically sets the optimal setting for your game to get you the desired FPS in-game. You won’t ever run into compatibility issues while using this application as long as you’re using Nvidia GPU. This optimization tool only focuses on managing your in-game settings by going into the GeForce application and clicking optimize next to your game. Portanto, se voc estiver enfrentando problemas de FPS e no conseguir jogar o jogo corretamente, recomendvel instalar o Razer Cortex em seu computador. As compared to Razer Cortex which eliminates external processes, the GeForce experience only changes the in-game settings to match your system specifications. Razer Cortex vs GeForce Experience Razer Cortex uma ferramenta de otimizao projetada pela Razer para melhorar o desempenho geral do sistema do seu computador. It is an optimization software by Nvidia that regulates your in-game settings to provide you with maximum performance. It will boost your FPS by a margin of 10 or 20 and you will be able to play games at 30 FPS minimum depending upon your system specification. So, if you’re one of those users then it is likely that the Razer cortex will be very helpful to you. It is only meant for users who don’t know how to optimize their system manually. That when they install cortex on their computer system, it is not able to further optimize your gameplay. This software lists your games and offer a couple of functions but its main purpose is to optimize your in-game settings (for supported games) for the best experience with your GeForce GTX Titan/7xx/6xx GPU. This is because they have already freed up all of the system resources for their gameplay. This is the main reason why you see so many users complaining about their Razer Cortex not improving FPS. However, users that have already optimized their computer system and disabled all of the background programs manually won’t enjoy many benefits after installing this program on their computer system. This is why you’re not able to draw your system’s whole power towards improving your gameplay. It is quite common for users to have a lot of programs installed on their computer system that keeps on running in the background and utilize the system resources. This improves the overall FPS that you’re getting in your game. The main function of this application is that it eliminates all of the unnecessary background processes to ensure that there are maximum resources available for your game. Then run the setup application to install it on your system. All you have to do is go to Razer’s official web and download it from there. So, if you’re running into FPS issues and can’t seem to play your game properly then it is recommended that you install Razer Cortex on your computer system. It is an optimization tool that is designed by Razer to improve the overall performance of your computer system. Razer Cortex vs GeForce Experience Razer Cortex In this article, we will be discussing the differences between Razer Cortex and GeForce to make it easier for you to decide which one will better serve your needs. The first is to buy a better PC and the second is to try and optimize your existing computer system. In this situation, there are only two things you can do. If your PC is weak then chances are you won’t be able to play the game properly even on low settings. It is the main reason why users get frustrated over their PC performance. It can be quite annoying if your game keeps lagging whenever you are in a duel. Experiments at the atomic scale have been carried out, showing that very small objects may be superimposed superimposing an object as large as a cat would pose considerable technical difficulties.įundamentally, the Schrödinger's cat experiment asks how long superpositions last and when (or whether) they collapse. As a result, Schrödinger's cat has had enduring appeal in popular culture. The experiment is not intended to be actually performed on a cat, but rather as an easily understandable illustration of the behavior of atoms. The scenario is often featured in theoretical discussions of the interpretations of quantum mechanics, particularly in situations involving the measurement problem. Though originally a critique on the Copenhagen interpretation, Schrödinger's seemingly paradoxical thought experiment became part of the foundation of quantum mechanics. This poses the question of when exactly quantum superposition ends and reality resolves into one possibility or the other. Yet, when one looks in the box, one sees the cat either alive or dead, not both alive and dead. The Copenhagen interpretation implies that, after a while, the cat is simultaneously alive and dead. a single atom decaying), the flask is shattered, releasing the poison, which kills the cat. a Geiger counter) detects radioactivity (i.e. In Schrödinger's original formulation, a cat, a flask of poison, and a radioactive source are placed in a sealed box. This thought experiment was devised by physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935 in a discussion with Albert Einstein to illustrate what Schrödinger saw as the problems of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics. In the thought experiment, a hypothetical cat may be considered simultaneously both alive and dead, while it is unobserved in a closed box, as a result of its fate being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur. In quantum mechanics, Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment that illustrates a paradox of quantum superposition. As illustrated, the objects are in a state of superposition: the cat is both alive and dead. Schrödinger's cat: a cat, a flask of poison, and a radioactive source connected to a Geiger counter are placed in a sealed box. For other uses, see Schrödinger's cat (disambiguation). |
